A rental deposit is a financial security used for possible costs arising during the rental. A pre-authorisation is not a payment: a temporary amount is blocked within the available limit of the renter’s credit card.
How is the amount determined?
The vehicle group, rental period and applicable conditions are considered together. The amount is explained before collection and shown in the agreement. A valid credit card in the renter’s name is normally required.
When is the hold released?
After the vehicle is returned and the checks are completed, we release the hold if there is no additional charge. The time needed for the amount to appear again in the available limit depends on the card-issuing bank.
