Damage inspection upon vehicle handover protects both the renter and the rental company. A brief joint inspection ensures the vehicle's initial condition is clearly documented.
Inspect the Vehicle's Exterior in Good Lighting
Check the bodywork, bumpers, windows, mirrors, rims, and tires together with the attendant. Ensure that any existing scratches or marks are noted in the handover record. If you are in a dark or enclosed area, inspect the vehicle in a well-lit spot whenever possible, rather than relying on a phone light.
Take Photos and Short Videos
Photograph all four sides of the vehicle, the odometer, and the fuel level at the time of pickup. Ensure the date and time information is preserved in the images. These records do not replace the contract but help recall the vehicle's condition at pickup.
Check the Interior and Equipment
Inspect the seats, upholstery, air conditioning, headlights, wipers, and basic safety equipment. If you selected additional services like a child seat, verify that the item is ready and in usable condition. Report any deficiencies you notice to the staff member before setting off.
Compare Fuel and Mileage with the Contract
The dashboard readings must match the pickup form. Return the vehicle with the same fuel level as when you received it; refuel only as much as necessary. Also, check your mileage allowance against your planned route.
If You Notice New Damage
If you notice a condition not previously recorded after pickup, notify our 24/7 support line before continuing to use the vehicle and follow their instructions. In the event of an accident or mechanical failure, do not authorize repairs, part replacements, or towing services without prior approval.
Follow the Same Procedure During Return
When returning the vehicle, inspect it again with the staff member in a well-lit area, just as you did at pickup, if possible. Photograph the fuel and odometer readings; ensure the key, registration documents, and any selected additional equipment are handed over completely. Do not leave the vehicle with the key inside and walk away before the joint inspection is completed.
If any new incident—however minor—occurs during use, such as an impact, glass damage, or a tire issue, report it immediately rather than waiting until the return. Early notification ensures proper guidance and the timely preparation of necessary documentation. Attempting to conceal damage or having unauthorized repairs performed may negatively affect the coverage assessment.
